How to convert PNG to JPG

  1. Add your PNG files: drop them in, click to choose, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
  2. JPG is already selected. Adjust the quality if you need a smaller file.
  3. Pick a background colour for any transparent areas (white by default).
  4. Download each JPG, or all of them as a ZIP.

PNG vs JPG in one minute

PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for logos, icons and screenshots, but large for photos. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs: files are much smaller, with no transparency.

Converting the other way? Use JPG to PNG. To shrink JPGs further, try the image compressor.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert PNG to JPG?

Photos saved as PNG are often 3โ€“10 times larger than the same photo as JPG. Many upload forms also accept only JPG.

What happens to transparency?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose. Keep PNG (or use WebP) if you need a see-through background.

Should I convert screenshots to JPG?

Screenshots with text look crisper as PNG. If you must use JPG, keep the quality at 90% or higher to avoid fuzzy edges around letters.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your images never reach our servers.
