Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stores the image exactly as it is now, but it can't bring back detail JPG compression already removed. It does stop further loss each time you edit and save.

Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?

PNG is lossless, so photos take more space. That is expected. Use PNG for editing and graphics, and JPG or WebP for sharing photos.

Can I make the background transparent?

Converting doesn't remove backgrounds: a JPG has no transparency to keep. You'll need a background-removal tool for that.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your images never reach our servers.
